The songs of my adolescence.
When I was younger, I used to listen to a lot of music. I had a special feeling for a group called Dire Straits - a very nice group with very nice singers.
What is interesting is that I was very young back then and did not speak English fluently. Even though I did not understand the lyrics very well I still had a sense of feeling for the music.
hehehehe
Let me now introduce you to a few songs by Dire Straits:
Dire Straits était un groupe de rock britannique créé durant l'été 1977 par Mark Knopfler (guitare et chant), David Knopfler (guitare), John Illsley (guitare basse) et Pick Withers (batterie). Considéré par certains comme l'un des plus grands groupes de rock des 30 dernières années, Dire Straits a vendu plus de 120 millions d'albums depuis ses débuts
The first song is “Money for Nothing” with a very nice interpretation by Sting, Eric Clapton, M. Knopfler and Phil Collins. WOW! I do love this song. I must have listened to this song a thousand times – it really meant a lot to me!

Custom kitchens deliveries
We gotta move these refrigerators
We gotta move these colour

Look at that mama, she got it stickin' in the camera
Man we could have some fun
And he's up there, what's that?

That ain't workin' that's the way you do it
Get your money for nothin' get your chicks for free
We gotta install microwave ovens
Custom kitchen deliveries
We gotta move these refrigerators
We gotta move these colour TV's,
LordNow that ain't workin' that's the way you do it
You play the guitar on the MTV
That ain't workin' that's the way you do it
Money for nothin' and your chicks for free
Money for nothin' and chicks for free
The second song is “So Far Away From Me.” I also must have listened to this song a thousand times – maybe even more. I just understood the entire sense of this song. WOW! This song is very specific to me. I hope that you will enjoy it.

So Far Away
Here I am again in this mean old town
And you're so far away from me
And where are you when the sun goes down
You're so far away from me
So far away from me
So far I just can't see
So far away from me
You're so far away from me
I'm tired of being in love and being all alone
When you're so far away from me
I'm tired of making out on the telephone
And you're so far away from me
So far away from me
So far I just can't see
So far away from me
You're so far away from me
I get so tired when I have to explain
When you're so far away from me
See you been in the sun and I've been in the rain
And you're so far away from me
So far away from me
So far I just can't see
So far away from me
You're so far away from me
The third song I chose for you is “Why Worry?”
Why Worry
Baby I see this world has made you sad
Some people can be bad
The things they do, the things they say
But baby I'll wipe away those bitter tears
I'll chase away those restless fears
That turn your blue skies into grey
Why worry, there should be laughter after the pain
There should be sunshine after rain
These things have always been the same
So why worry now
Baby when I get down
I turn to you
And you make sense of what I do
I know it isn't hard to say
But baby just when this world seems mean and cold
Our love comes shining red and gold
And all the rest is by the way
Why worry, there should be laughter after pain
There should be sunshine after rain
These things have always been the same
So why worry now
Thank you for listening to these beautiful songs by Dire Straits. I love them – I hope you will love then too.
See you all soon.
Byeeee!
Editorial Note: Since I am the editor of this blog I not only get to edit the posts, I also get to add “stuff.” One of my favorite Dire Straits songs (and an all-time rock and roll great) is “The Sultans of Swing.” So to round out Arc’s Dire Straits selections, here is...
You get a shiver in the dark
It's been raining in the park but meantime
South of the river you stop and you hold everything
A band is blowing Dixie double four time
You feel all right when you hear that music ring
You step inside but you don't see too many faces
Coming in out of the rain to hear the jazz go down
Competition in all the places
All but the horns keep blowing that sound
Way on downsouth, way on downsouth London town
You check out Guitar George he knows all the chords
Mind he's strictly rhythm he doesn't want to make it cry or sing
And an old guitar is all he can afford
When he gets up under the lights to play his thing
And Harry doesn't mind if he doesn't make the scene
He's got a daytime job he's doing alright
He can play the Honky Tonk like anything
Saving it up for Friday night
With the Sultans, with the Sultans of Swing
And a crowd of young boys they're fooling around in the corner
Drunk and dressed in their best brown baggies and their platform soles
They don't give a damn about any trumpet playing band
It ain't what they call Rock 'n' Roll
And the Sultans, yeah the Sultans played Creole
And then the man he steps right up to the microphone
And says at last just as the time bell rings
"Goodnight now it's time to go home"
and he makes it fast with one more thing
"We are the Sultans, we are the Sultans of Swing"

A famous saying by, yes a famous panda:
"Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why we call it a mystery."
We all need to remember to care for each other, in RL or SL. A friend with a kind ear, a caring voice, a friendly email or just a smile.
Whether a long lost friend, lover, or a total unknown new friend. We need to give our selves today, a gift. Because tomorrow is a mystery, and we may never have the opportunity again.
Thanks for all the wonderful posts!
