SATURDAY MORNING MUSINGS: THE 3 KEYS TO HAPPINESS

By Debbie Bulloch

We’ve all heard countless studies, articles and TV interviews on happiness. But the other day I stumbled upon something that is just now being revealed to the media for the first time.* It's a 72 year old study that began all the way back in 1937 when 268 Harvard University sophomores were asked to participate in a study measuring “a formula-some mix of love, work, and adaptation-for a good life.” And while many of those who were college sophomores in 1937 are now dying or in their fading twilight, this study continues to be diligently maintained to this very day.

And never before has science been able to report such fascinating and thoroughly time-tested results on happiness. Following are 3 powerful lessons from this study.

1. Have a Healthy Outlet

So many of the people in this study seemed to have all their ducks in a row. In their prime years in the 1950’s and 1960’s, they were making big money in powerful careers. They had beautiful families and lived in idyllic neighborhoods. Oddly enough, later in life, many of these fortunate people ended up breaking down mentally and physically. Why? If one didn’t have a healthy outlet for their fears, nerves, and struggles, it was only a matter of time before repressed demons erupted to the surface. The happiest people in this study had a healthy outlet. They were altruistic or had a rich sense of humor. They funneled their issues into sport, “their lust into courtship.”

hi deb
Thank you !
what are the keys of the happiness ? if you have the answers, please let me know ! because i mustn't have the keys !

so maybe the 3 keys to be happy are :

* Love
* Health and sport
* Humour

Maybe these are the keys !
* First : Love because i do believe that love is leading our life and if you don't have love, you can't be happy. When i talk about love, i talk about love in general : family, childrens, parents, wife or hubby or women or men ! that is essential ! allows us to breath !

* Second : health and sport :
for me these one are very important and you can't separate it ! health is very very important and sport is a very good way to feel good to have a good heart and to have more oxygen ! in your mind, in your body, in your legs ....everywhere ! it helps to feel good !

* third : humour
having some humour is important too because it is the way to relativise things, life and to give a new sense of life , to have for sure a better life ! we have to smile in our life ! it is important because it can give joy and happiness!

so deb and my friends, that's what is important according to me !

I let you think of it !
and please share with us your opinion ! thank deb to share with us ! byeeeeeee
see you soon

Healthy outlet, hmm hmm.

We all need to remember that each of us have our own unique outlet and purpose of life. We as individuals need to find this. Keeping a balance is what is important for your health.

Working for example, too little or too much? Too hard not hard enough. How do you define enjoyment? The question is do you enjoy what you do. Oh not just the work itself but do you find balance in the rest of your life. Does it fit in with your life.

If you do not enjoy your work, you will not be happy with other areas of your life. IF you do find happiness you will be good in other areas of your life.

BUT, yes big but, enjoyment is making the time for the other areas. Only each one of us as individuals can make these choices. Our relationships are important as humans. How many relationships? How much? How deep? That is for you as an individual to decide.

Somethings we need to do for our bodies, some find more joy in this than others. Some crazy people around here love riding a bike all over, wonder who? hehe

It is up to us to find our balance, our outlets and inlets in our lives. Someone's gift is another's demon.

Oh as a special friend I have in sl, would say, 'TT shut up!' ( i am rambling)

It is only appropriate to finish with this piece with the man of the day: Please enjoy, think and ponder, what is your life like?
